Why Georgian drivers face extra risk
Every car carries fuel, oil, plastics and a growing amount of electrical wiring. On top of that, a great many vehicles in Georgia are converted to run on gas (LPG/CNG) — a pressurised fuel system that, if poorly installed or unmaintained, raises the fire and explosion risk.

The most common causes
- Collisions that rupture the fuel system.
- Fuel or gas leaks — especially on older or poorly converted LPG/CNG vehicles.
- Electrical faults and worn wiring.
- Overheating engines and leaking oil onto hot parts.
Warning signs while driving
- A smell of fuel or burning.
- Smoke from under the bonnet.
- A rapidly rising temperature gauge or a dashboard warning light.
Your on-road safety checklist
- 1.Keep a car extinguisher or fire-extinguisher ball in the cabin — reachable in seconds, never buried in the boot.
- 2.Service your fuel and gas system; have LPG/CNG conversions and checks done professionally.
- 3.Act on warning signs early — pull over and investigate, don't drive on.
- 4.If a fire starts: pull over, engine off, everyone out and at least 10 metres away, call 112. Don't fully open the bonnet; never re-enter for belongings.
